Delicious high fiber high flavor casserole

Recipe Ingredients for turnip-apple casserole

4 cup, cubes Turnips
4 medium (3") Apples
6 oz Extra Sharp Cheddar
16 fl oz Organic Low Sodium Chicken Broth
0.46 oz Butter Ghee

Recipe Directions for turnip-apple casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 450 F

  2. Peel and slice the turnips, core and slice the apples, both in 1/2 inch quarters.

  3. In a heavy pan like a dutch oven melt the ghee and coat the sides of the pot.

  4. Add the turnips and apples, pour the broth over to almost cover. Can substitute vegetable broth or apple juice.

  5. Crumble the cheese on the top.

  6. Cook covered for 30 minutes, then uncovered until the cheese just starts to brown. Some of the juice will still be present but will be reabsorbed as it sits for 20 minutes or so.

  7. Reheat to serve or serve lukewarm.
