A turkey variation on the old party stand-by, sloppy Joe's. The kidney beans are optional, and you can also cook 1 cup of spaghetti pieces, drain, and add those at the same time as the beans, as well.

Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Sloppy Joe's

1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 lb Poultry food products, ground turkey, raw
1 cup, chopped Onions
4 clove Garlic
3 tsp Chile Powder
1 tbsp Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
1 1/2 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Allspice, Ground
1/2 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
1 tsp Oregano, Ground

3 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 cup Chicken Stock
1 cup Tomato Products
14 oz Select Dark Red Kidney Beans
12 serving Arnold Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Recipe Directions for Turkey Sloppy Joe's

  1. Chop the garlic.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the turkey and cook to brown it.

  3. Add the onion and garlic; season with salt and pepper.

  4. Cook until the onion softens, a few minutes, then add the chile powder, cocoa powder, paprika, allspice, cinnamon, and oregano.

  5. Stir to release the flavors of the spices, then work in the tomato paste, brown sugar, and Worcestshire, stirring for at least a minute or more.

  6. Add the stock and tomato sauce and simmer for a few minutes to thicken.

  7. Add the beans and spaghetti pieces, if desired.

  8. Serve on the rolls with the toppings of your choice.
