Turkey Pie Recipe

This is a turkey version of the pork pie enjoyed as a family Chrismas breakfast tradition for several generations. Fat content can be varied by changing the mix of lean vs. regular ground turkey

Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Pie

1 lb lean ground turkey
1/2 lb ground turkey
1 1/3 cups skim milk
2 Pie Crust, Standard-type
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp white pepper
1 tbsp ground sage
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 onion

Recipe Directions for Turkey Pie

  1. Combine meat, milk, and onions in a large pot. Cook on low heat until meat is brown. Add Sage, Salt and Pepper to taste. Add bread crumbs. For a finer, less crumbly, texture chop meat mixture in a blender before adding bread crumbs. Pour meat filling in to a pie shell (I use a pre-made shell in a foil pan.) Cover top with pie crust (I use pilsbury rolled pie crusts) and poke holes for venting. Place pie in a 1-gallon ziploc bag and freeze.

  2. Place frozen pie in 350 degree oven for 1 hour
