Lower fat version of the Tex-Mex classic. Could also add turkey bacon for more flavor. Serve with cornbread.

Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Chili

4 lbs ground turkey
4 1/2 cups beans
16 ounce diced tomatoes
16 ounce tomatoes, crushed
12 ounces tomato paste
2 onions, finely diced
2 green bell peppers, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 yellow bell pepper, diced
20 ounce chicken broth
6 ounces beer
2 fresh tomatoes
3 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
4 tablespoons chili powder (to taste)
4 tablespoons cayenne pepper (to taste)
2 jalapeno peppers

Recipe Directions for Turkey Chili

  1. Process the fresh tomatoes, garlic, cumin, oregano, paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper & jalapeno (hot) peppers in the food processor; place in the refrigerator overnight.

  2. Brown the ground turkey and place in crockpot.

  3. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, bell peppers, broth, beer & tomato spice puree.

  4. Stir and let cook for 10-12 hours on low.

  5. Serve topped w/ fat free shredded cheddar cheese, a bit of fat free sour cream and cornbread.
