A meaty chili with lots of flavor.

Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Chili

1 T olive oil
10 cloves garlic, sliced
1 yellow onion, diced
1 pound ground turkey
1 T chili powder
1/2 T cumin seed, ground
1/2 t cayenne powder
1/2 t black pepper
6 oz tomato paste, unsweetened
28 oz diced tomatoes, unsweetened
2 c kidney beans, dry

Recipe Directions for Turkey Chili

  1. Measure kidney beans rinse and place in large container (I use a 1/2 gallon Ball jar). Cover with cold water and let soak overnight.

  2. Drain the beans and pour into a large stockpot. Cover with cold water and bring to a boil. Simmer until the beans are tender, stirring occasionally and checking to make sure there is enough water. When tender pour into a large bowl.

  3. Put the stockpot back on the heat and put in olive oil. Heat on medium until hot. Add onions and garlic and saute until soft. Add ground turkey and brown. Add seasonings and stir well. Add tomato paste, diced tomatoes and beans back into the pot and bring up to simmer. Taste and adjust seasonings accordingly.
