Hunters stew. Usually made with chicken, but turkey or rabbit work nicely, too.

Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Cacciatore

2 units turkey legs, no skin
1 medium yellow onion, sliced to half moons
2 cloves garlic
16 oz Amy's Family Marinara Sauce (lower carb)
1 medium green bell pepper
6 oz mushrooms, portabella
2 tbls flaxseed (optional)

Recipe Directions for Turkey Cacciatore

  1. Layer 1/2 of the marinara sauce and all of the onion, garlic, bell pepper and chicken in a slow cooker.

  2. Sprinkle the mushrooms on top and cover with remaining sauce.

  3. Cover and cook on high, 2.5 -3 hrs, low 6-7 hrs.

  4. Transfer to serving plate.

  5. For thicker sauce, wisk together 1 tbls flour, 2 tbls water and 2 tbls wine until smooth. Heat until thick.

  6. Pour over meal.
