Recipe Ingredients for Turkey Cacciatore Burgers on Portobello

19 oz turkey burger 99% fat free
19 oz turkey burger 93% fat free
6 oz mushrooms, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 yellow onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
3 tbsp tomato paste
2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
3 tbsp soy sauce
3/4 cup fat free mozzarella
20 oz portobella mushrooms, about 5, stems removed
3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Recipe Directions for Turkey Cacciatore Burgers on Portobello

  1. Combine meat, chopped mushrooms, red bell pepper, onion, garlic, tomato paste, red pepper flakes, soy sauce and mozzarella.

  2. Score and form meat into 5 large patties.

  3. Drizzle EVOO on top of patties and fry until cooked

  4. Place mushroom caps on small baking sheet gill side up in preheated 450 oven with EVOO drizzled on them.

  5. Roast caps 12 minutes

  6. Remove from oven.

  7. Turn oven off.

  8. Top each cap with burger and cheese of your choice in still warm oven to melt cheese, about 1 minute.
