A delightful twist on an old classic casserole. Substitute cheddar cheese for a more traditional taste.

Recipe Ingredients for Tuna Noodle Casserole

1 tbsp butter, melted
5 Saltine crackers, crushed
4 oz. egg noodles
1/4 c butter
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/4 c onion, chopped
1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 c skim milk
12 oz. tuna
4 oz. mozzarella cheese

Recipe Directions for Tuna Noodle Casserole

  1. Mix melted butter and crushed crackers in a small bowl. Set aside for later use.

  2. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain well.

  3. Cook celery and onion in 1/4 c butter until tender. Stir in flour, salt, mustard, and pepper until well-coated; add milk all at once.

  4. Cook sauce until thickened and bubbly.

  5. Mix in tuna, cheese, and noodles. Transfer to a 1 1/2-qt. casserole dish and top with crackers.

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the crackers are a light golden brown.
