From Better Homes and Gardens recipe book. If frozen peas aren't available, frozen mixed vegetables work great. Also great with dried taraggon added with flour and pepper.

Recipe Ingredients for Tuna Noodle Casserole, BH&G

3 cups egg noodles
1 tbsp butter
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
3 tbsp butter
1 cup celery, chopped
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup milk
12 oz. chunk tuna, drained
1 cup frozen peas

Recipe Directions for Tuna Noodle Casserole, BH&G

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In large saucepan cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, melt 1 tbsp butter. Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and set aside. Drain noodles.

  2. For sauce, in medium saucepan cook celery and onion in 3 tbsp butter until tender. Stir in flour and black pepper. Add chicken broth and milk all at once; cook and stir until slightly thickened and bubbly.

  3. Gently fold sauce, tuna, and peas into noodles. Transfer to lightly greased 1-1/2-quart baking dish. Top with breadcrumb mixture. Bake, uncovered, 20 minutes or until heated through. Let stand 5 minutes.
