Tuna Casserole with the sauce made from scratch.

Recipe Ingredients for Tuna Casserole, Old Fashioned

24 oz Tuna Packed in Water
4 cups Dry, Uncooked, Enriched Egg Noodles
1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 cups water
1 tablespoon unbleached flour
1 cup Silk Light Vanilla Soy Milk
3 cups Peas
1 cup Chopped Raw Onions
4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon Pepper
1 teaspoon Paprika
1 teaspoon Parsley Flakes
1/4 cup unseasoned bread crumbs

Recipe Directions for Tuna Casserole, Old Fashioned

  1. Cook Egg noodles in dutch oven on the stove until the noodles are able to move

  2. Heat olive oil over medium heat in a sauce pan

  3. Stir flour in olive oil in pan making sure not to form lumps

  4. Add water slowly to the sauce pan, whisking the flour and oil mixture to thin out the mixture making the base of the sauce

  5. Add soy milk slowly to sauce pan continuing to stir rapidly

  6. Add sea salt to the sauce

  7. Add fresh ground pepper to the sauce and stir the sauce

  8. Remove sauce from heat and turn off burner

  9. Chop the onion

  10. Finely chop the garlic

  11. Drain water off the Noodles and return noodles to Dutch oven

  12. Pour sauce over noodles

  13. Flake Tuna and add to noodles and sauce

  14. Add peas, garlic and onions to the noodles and stir well to distribute the vegetables evenly in the casserole

  15. Spray a casserole dish with olive oil

  16. Pour casserole into casserole dish

  17. Cover casserole with bread crumbs

  18. Sprinkle paprika and parsley on top of the casserole for color

  19. Cook Casserole in oven at 350 degree for 30 minutes or until brown on top
