Recipe Ingredients for Trudy's chili apprx 1 cup per serving

4 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large onions, chopped
4 garlic cloves,  minced
4 lb stew beef, cubed
3 lb pork sausage
32 oz whole tomatoes
2 (6oz) cans tomato paste
6 tbsp chili powder
3 tsp cumin
1 tbsp oregano
32 oz baked beans
2 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
30 oz kidney beans, strained
15 oz pinto beans,  strained

Recipe Directions for Trudy's chili apprx 1 cup per serving

  1. Heat oil,  saute onions and garlic until soft.  Add

  2. beef and sausage, and cook until brown.  Add

  3. liquid from tomatoes,  chop tomatoes and add

  4. to meat mixture.  Add tomato paste, chili powder

  5. cumin, oregano, baked beans, salt, sugar, and 

  6. cocoa.  Simmer partially  covered  for 2 hours,

  7. stirring often.  If it gets dry, add a little water.

  8. Add kidney and pinto beans.  Cook  20 minutes

  9. longer
