A simple recipe for chicken gyros using a lamb chop marinade. You can also use pork (247 calories) or lamb (260 calories) as an alternate filler.

Recipe Ingredients for Trisha's Chicken Gyros

1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 lbs chicken breast, thinly sliced
2 cups lettuce, shredded
1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
1/2 cup tomatoe, diced
12 oz pita bread, halved

Recipe Directions for Trisha's Chicken Gyros

  1. mix togehter the vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic, 1/2 onion, and olive oil in a large resealable bag until the salt has dissolved.

  2. add the chicken, tossuntil coated and marinade in refigerator for at least 2 hours. (great for lamb chops)

  3. Preheat skillet and cook chicken

  4. take all 6 loaves of pita bread and halve for a total of 12 pockets

  5. fill with chicken, remaining onion, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and sprinkle a little feta for a delicious meal.

  6. Top with some Tzatziki sauce (look for Trisha' Tzatziki Sauce Recipe) to complete.

  7. eat them without the pita bread and reduce the calories by 78!
