Very easy to make. I make almost every week and I have a very busy schedule

Recipe Ingredients for Traditional White Bread

6 cups flour
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening
5 tbsp. yeast
2 1/4 cups water, 120 to 130 degrees

Recipe Directions for Traditional White Bread

  1. Mix 3 1/2 cups of the flour, the sugar, salt, shortening and yeast in a large bowl. Add warm water. Beat on lower speed for 1 minute. Add remaining flour 1 cup at a time to make dough easy to handle.

  2. Turn dough onto floured surface (working in remaining flour) and knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes).

  3. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double (about 1 hour).

  4. Punch down dough and divide into halves. Let rest 5 minutes. Shape into pan form and put into greased loaf pans. Let rise until double 35 to 50 minutes.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

  6. Makes 2 loaves, 14 slices each.
