First - don't use the exact recipe below, that's just for calorie purposes & doesn't make 100% sense. Use these measurements of ingredients: 1 chicken, whole or cut up 4 whole celery sticks (2 cut in half, 2 chopped) 1 bag of matchstick carrots 1 bunch of green onions, chopped 1 pound of either fresh, wide egg noodles or the frozen ones (not the dried stuff)

Recipe Ingredients for Traditional Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

3 lbs Bone-In Breast Product Split Breast
6 cups water
1 onion
2 cups celery
8 oz carrots
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons chicken bouillon
1 teaspoon thyme
1 cup green onion
2 bay leaf
1 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 pound egg noodles

Recipe Directions for Traditional Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

  1. Put the chicken, half of the big onion (not the green ones), the two celery stick halves, half the carrots, garlic, salt & pepper, bay leaves, boullion, thyme, red pepper, and bay leaves in the pot and cover with water.

  2. Bring to a boil then cover and turn down heat to a simmer for about 45 minutes.

  3. Fish out the chicken and all of the big vegetable pieces and the bay leaves and discard everything but the chicken. Pull the meat from the bones and put it back in the pot, get rid of the bones, obviously.

  4. Now add the remaining fresh veggies (green onion, chopped celery, other half of carrots) and the noodles and allow to heat back up (5 minutes or so) untill the noodles are done (It says like 10 minutes for the noodles but they lie). Keep in mind these are all estimates, you can add or reduce any amount of the veggies you want really, and seasoning to taste, of course.
