Traditional Greek salad. Serves 4 if used as a side salad and two if used as a meal.

Recipe Ingredients for Traditional Greek Salad

1 medium Green Bell Pepper
8 oz Feta Cheese
3 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
1 medium raw Onion Red
1 cucumber (8-1/4") Cucumber
4 tbsp Olive Oil
2 tbsp Oregano, Ground
2 serving Coarse Kosher Salt
1 fruit (2-1/8" dia) Lemons
2 tsp Pepper, Black

Recipe Directions for Traditional Greek Salad

  1. Purchase the freshest produce possible as well as fresh feta cheese and calamata olives. If you have access to a Greek deli please buy fresh. It makes all the difference in taste and quality.

  2. Dressing:

  3. Combine olive oil, salt, pepper, oregano, juice of a lemon, and a dash of white wine to enhance.

  4. Whisk briskly and set aside.

  5. Salad:

  6. Slice cucumber in 1/8" slices and toss into large mixing bowl

  7. Slice tomatoes into 8ths and toss into large mixing bowl

  8. Slice bell pepper into 24ths and toss into large mixing bowl

  9. Slice onions thinly and toss into large mixing bowl

  10. Slice feta cheese into 1" cubes and toss into large mixing bowl.

  11. Toss in olives

  12. Combine dressing and vegetables and toss to mix thoroughly approximately 5 minutes before serving. Let salad sit before serving to let the cucumbers, tomatoes, and feta absorb all the flavors.
