This is my "basic" tossed salad starter group of ingredients - shown together as a "recipe" to minimize the number of separate entries required to list a big salad consumed as a main meal, usually at mid-day.

Recipe Ingredients for Tossed salad, basic start on ingredients

1 cup romaine lettuce, broken in small pieces
1/4 cup yellow onion, sliced thinly
1 Roma tomato, fresh, diced
3 servings, Ceasar spritzer, Wishbone brand

Recipe Directions for Tossed salad, basic start on ingredients

  1. Break romaine lettuce into small, bite-sized pieces and place in large bowl.

  2. Slice 1/4 small yellow onion thinly, then chop slices into small pieces; add to bowl.

  3. Cut Roma tomato in quarters, lengthwise, then into thirds--about 12 pieces to add to bowl.

  4. Squirt Spritzer salad dressing onto above ingredients (10 squirts equal one serving)

  5. NOTE: This is what I start with, then I add other ingredients, depending on what is available and how many calories and/or food groups I want to include for this salad -- with more Spritzer added when all ingredients are included.
