A true mexican recipe - if you do it the way the recipe says, then there will be many small tortillas instead of 8 tortillas.

Recipe Ingredients for Tortillas

3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup oil
2 cups water

Recipe Directions for Tortillas

  1. 3 cups flour, 1/4 teaspoon, salt, 1/2 tsp. baking powder....mix

  2. Add 1/3 cup oil....mix well....use your hands (after a good washing)

  3. Add warm-hot (not too hot to mix with hands) water a bit at a time mixing after each addition. (1/2 cup at a time) Keep mixing very well.... it has to be kneeded a bit(use hands).....your final dough should be nice and soft.

  4. Form into balls...golf ball size (if you do them this small, then they will make more than 8 tortillas). Put a bit of flour on the board or counter...and on your rolling pin (or whatever you use to roll)...make them as round as you can. (don't stack...they'll stick together) Cook in frying pan on medium heat. They cook quickly....just leave in pan till cooked...you don't want them crisp.
