Recipe Ingredients for Tortas de Bell Pepper

10 medium bell peppers
1 lb. ground beef
2 medium potatoes
4 cups string beans
10 egg whites
1 tomato
1/4 cup flour
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 salt to taste
1 black pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Tortas de Bell Pepper

  1. Prep time...about 2 1/2 hours start to finish

  2. Wash all ingredients. Gather large skillet, large bowl, egg beater, blender, and 9x13 inch pan.

  3. Cube potatoes, and cut string beans into little squares.

  4. In a skillet, pour 1 tbsp. oil into pan and fry ground beef until there is no more red. Then mix in the potatoes, salt and pepper, and string beans until potatoes are soft. Place aside.

  5. Heat bell peppers over soft open fire until it begins to blacken.

  6. Peel the hard skin off of all bell peppers.

  7. Carefully slice side and remove all seeds.

  8. Place bell peppers in the 9x13 inch pan and one by one stuff with the mixture made earlier.

  9. Separate egg yolks from egg whites. Using an egg beater, beat egg whites until fluffy.

  10. Carefully coat and dip stuffed peppers (one at a time) with beaten egg whites.

  11. In same skillet used to make stuffing, heat the dipped/stuffed bell peppers until golden brown turning about once per pepper.

  12. To make the sauce, use the same skillet and add blended tomato, the flour and egg white with salt and some chicken flavoring to place finished bell peppers in.

  13. Place all into a large casserole
