Split Pea Soup without a ham bone. by Keith Dresser

Recipe Ingredients for Tom's Favorite Split Pea Soup

2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
1 medium Onions
2 clove Garlic
7 cup (8 fl oz) Water
16 oz Traditional Ham Steak
3 slices Food You Feel Good About Uncured Bacon
16 oz Split Peas
1 tsp Thyme, Fresh
2 leaves Spices Whole Bay Leaves
1/2 cup slices Carrots
2 stalks Celery
1/2 tsp Spices Ground Black Pepper
1/2 tsp Salt, Table

Recipe Directions for Tom's Favorite Split Pea Soup

  1. Cook onions and salt in butter

  2. Add garlic

  3. Add all the other ingredients except the carrots and celery

  4. Bring to a boil

  5. Reduce heat to med-low, cover and simmer for 45min

  6. Remove the ham steak

  7. Add carrots and celery

  8. Simmer for another 30min

  9. Cut up ham

  10. Remove bacon, thyme and bay leaves

  11. Add ham
