Recipe Ingredients for tomato sauce

3 cup Diced Tomatoes
0.5 full glass (6.0 fl oz) Wine, Table, Red
1/4 cup leaves, whole Basil, Fresh
1 tbsp Oregano, Ground
1 tbsp Garlic Powder
1 plum tomato Tomatoes, Red, Ripe
0.5 large (2-1/4 per lb, approx 3-3/4" long, 3" dia) Peppers, Sweet, Green
0.3 medium (2-1/2" dia) Onions
0.5 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola

Recipe Directions for tomato sauce

Saute onion & pepper in oil until very soft, almost caramelized. Add garlic powder, oregano, and chopped basil (and a dash of salt if using) and saute for 1 minute more. Add fresh tomatoes and canned tomatoes and simmer. Add red wine, bring to a boil, and lower heat to simmer for 20-30 minutes or until tomatoes begin to break down.
