Recipe Ingredients for Toasted Oatmeal

1/2 c. dry oatmeal
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. 2% milk
2 tsp. sugar

Recipe Directions for Toasted Oatmeal

  1. Set flame to medium.

  2. Scatter the oats evenly in a nonstick pan (remember, no liquid yet)

  3. Toast the oats 3-5 minutes. They will smell tantalyzingly like popcorn. Stir them frequently so they don't get burned. If they start to turn black... you're not stirring enough.

  4. Pour water thinly and evenly around the oats.

  5. Continue stirring the oats, and pour in the milk.

  6. Add sugar and salt. If you're not an experienced cook, don't be surprised if you need to add salt later.

  7. Cook another 3-7 minutes to taste. I like to reduce the liquid a little bit but it's all up to you.
