From Better Homes and Garden: Hot & Spicy Cooking. The original calls for ground beef, 2 pounds, and only 1 15-ounce of beans. I've adjusted for health and you will never notice the difference with ground turkey. TNT is VERY hot. I love spicy food but Firecracker is plenty hot for me. Go hotter with caution! Best chili ever and gets an A!

Recipe Ingredients for TNT Chili

1 pound ground turkey
2 medium onions, chopped
1 medium green pepper, seeded and chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
32 ounces canned tomatoes
15 ounces tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup pickled jalapeno peppers, rinsed and chopped
1/4 cup chili powder
1 tbsp ground red pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
30 ounces red kidney beans, drained (2 15-ounce cans)

Recipe Directions for TNT Chili

  1. In dutch oven, cook ground turkey, onions, green pepper, celery, and garlic till meat is browned and vegetables are tender.

  2. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, jalapeno peppers, chili powder, ground red pepper, salt, black pepper, and a bay leaf.

  3. Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat & simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  4. Stir in beans and cook 30 minutes more.

  5. For Dynamite Chili: use only 1/3 cup jalapeno peppers & 2 tsp ground red pepper.

  6. For Firecracker Chili: use 1/3 cup jalapeno peppers (or canned mild chili peppers) & 1 1/2 tsp ground red pepper.
