Recipe Ingredients for Tiramisu

6 egg yolks
1/2 cup white sugar
8 oz mascarpone cheese
2 cups heavy whipping cream
20 ladyfingers
1/3 cup coffee
1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder

Recipe Directions for Tiramisu

  1. Combine egg yolks and sugar in the top of a double boiler, over boiling water. Reduce heat to low, and cook for about 10 minutes (until egg yolk mixture reaches the ribbon stage), stirring constantly.

  2. Remove from heat and whip yolks until thick and lemon colored.

  3. Add mascarpone to whipped yolks. Beat until combined. In a separate bowl, whip cream to stiff peaks. Gently fold into yolk mixture and set aside.

  4. Dip the ladyfingers in the coffee (quickly, do not let is soak for too long). Line the bottom of the pan with coffee soaked ladyfingers. Spoon half of the cream filling over the lady fingers. Dust with a layer of cocoa powder. Repeat ladyfingers, coffee, filling layers, and cocoa powder. Refrigerate overnight.
