A delicious grain preparation that can be used as a warm side dish or used for a salad.

Recipe Ingredients for Thyme scented grains

2 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 cups pearled barley
1 onion diced
2 tsp thyme

Recipe Directions for Thyme scented grains

  1. Brown grain in olive oil till lightly toasted (about 10 mns.) Add onion and thyme sprigs & cook over low heat, stirring, until the onion is softened, about 5 mns. Add water or broth (amt depends on grain) and bring to boil. Cover & cook over very low heat until the water is absorbed and the grains are tender. Fluff the grain & discard the sprigs. Season with salt and serve.

  5. Spelt 4 c water 1 hr 25 mins
