Recipe Ingredients for thit ga kho gung

2 tbsp Vegetable Oil, Canola
20 oz Fresh Chicken thighs, bones and skins removed
1 tbsp Garlic
2 tbsp Ginger Root
2 tbsp chopped Onions
2 tbsp Fish Sauce
2 tbsp unpacked Sugars, Brown
1 tbsp Sugars, Granulated
1 dash Pepper, Black
1 tsp Red Pepper
3 green onions, cut into 1 inch segments

Recipe Directions for thit ga kho gung

  1. Chop the chicken into big chunks. In a large deep skillet or large saucepan heat the oil over medium high heat until a bit of garlic sizzles. Add the chicken and cook for about 2 minutes, tossing once or twice.

  2. Push the meat out to the the sides of the pan and add the ginger, garlic, and onion to the middle of the pan. Cook for 1 minute then toss well. Add the fish sauce, both sugars, pepper, and chili flakes and toss to mix everything together. Let the sauce come to a strong boil and begin to thicken, then add the water. Adjust the heat o maintain a lively simmer and then cook the chicken for 10 to 15 minutes, tossing now and then. When the sauce is thickened and the chicken is cooked, add the green onions and toss well.

  3. Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot or warm.
