Thick cream is used as a sour cream substitute in Mexico and Central/South America

Recipe Ingredients for Thick Cream

1 cup Heavy whipping Cream
2 tsp buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Thick Cream

  1. Pour cream into small saucepan, set over low heat and stir just until the chill is off; DO NOT heat above 100˚F ? keep luke warm.

  2. Remove from heat; stir in buttermilk (or substitute) and pour into clean glass jar.

  3. Place lid on jar but don?t tighten; put in warm 80-90˚F spot.

  4. Let cream develop for 12-24 hours; until noticeably thicker. Stir gently and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight to chill and completely thicken.
