Thick Clam Chowder Recipe

Makes 6 servings



Very tasty - original recipe called for more butter and flour but this was fine. No need for salt, it is plenty salty.

Recipe Ingredients for Thick Clam Chowder

4 medium Celery
300 2 cans, ideally use a third one clams
1 onion
500 ml potatoes, diced
3 cups 1% milk
1 cup 35% cream
90 g butter
120 g flour
4 serving Raw bacon 1 slice

Recipe Directions for Thick Clam Chowder

  1. Chop bacon and fry on low heat.

  2. Throw in potatoes, celery and onion, cover with clam juices from canned clams. Simmer until veggies are tender.

  3. Melt butter and stir in flour, mix thoroughly then add to veggies. Gradually pour in milk and cream and stir. Thicken on medium heat but don't let it boil.

  4. Add clams 2-3 minutes before serving to warm up.
