Hot and spicy. Also delicious with ground chicken or pork. I like to use the small thai chilis, but jalapenos or whatever you like is fine. To reduce the heat, you can remove the seeds and pulp from inside the peppers. I use six of the thai chilis, which is plenty hot for me.

Recipe Ingredients for Thai Turkey and Basil

16 oz Ground Turkey, fat-free (99%)
8 oz Snow Peas
3 clove Garlic
6 pepper Peppers, Hot Chili, Red
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 cup leaves, whole Basil, Fresh
9 serving Fish Sauce
1 tbsp Soy Sauce

Recipe Directions for Thai Turkey and Basil

  1. Press or finely chop the garlic.

  2. Finely chop the chili peppers.

  3. Wash the fresh basil and separate the leaves from the stems. Lay the leaves between paper towels to dry.

  4. Heat oil to med-high in large skillet.

  5. Saute garlic (pressed) and chilis (finely chopped) in the oil for about a minute, until the garlic is just slightly turning brown.

  6. Add the meat and 3 tbsp fish sauce and saute with the garlic and chilis, breaking it into chunks until brown.

  7. Let most of the liquid evaporate and then remove the meat mixture from the skillet.

  8. Add the pea pods, soy sauce and about a tbsp of water to the skillet and saute for about 2 minutes, until they are cooked, but still a little crisp.

  9. Put the meat back in the skillet with the pea pods. Remove the skillet from heat.

  10. Add the basil leaves to the skillet and stir in gently.

  11. Serve over rice unless you are living low carb like me!

  12. Enjoy!
