A unique adaptation of traditional hamburgers. These are pork burgers with Thai spices. Serve on hamburger buns with shredded Napa cabbage.

Recipe Ingredients for Thai-Style Burgers [Adapted from Great Meals in ...10 Minutes, 20 Minutes, ...]

1 tbsp red chili, small
2 garlic cloves
2 scallions
7 oz mushrooms
1 lb ground pork, hot
1 tbsp Thai fish sauce
3 tbsp cilantro, chopped
1 salt, to taste
1 pepper, to taste
3 tbsp all-purpose flour, for dusting
2 tbsp corn oil, for shallow frying
2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp lime juice

Recipe Directions for Thai-Style Burgers [Adapted from Great Meals in ...10 Minutes, 20 Minutes, ...]

  1. Place the chili (seeded), garlic, and scallions ina food processor and process to form a smooth paste. Add the mushrooms and pocess until very finely chopped.

  2. Add the pork, fish sauce, and cilantro. Season well with salt and pepper, then divide the mixture into 6 equal portions & form with lightly floured hands into burger shapes.

  3. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the burgers and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until cooked through.

  4. Meanwhile, mix the mayonnaise with the lime juice in a small bowl.

  5. (Optional). Serve with hamburger buns. Split the buns and spread the lime-flavored mayonnaise on the open buns. Add some shredded Napa cabbage and top with cooked burger, then sandwich together. Serve immediately while still hot.
