Chocolate buttermilk cake with chocolate fudge frosting

Recipe Ingredients for Texas Sheet Cake

2 cup Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Bleached
2 cup Sugars, Granulated
0.5 tsp Salt, Table
1 cup Butter
1 cup (8 fl oz) Water
3 tbsp Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
2 large egg Eggland's Best Egg
0.5 tsp Baking Soda
0.5 cup Milk, Buttermilk, Fluid, Cultured, Lowfat
1.5 tsp Vanilla Extract
3 tbsp Cocoa, Dry Powder, Unsweetened
1.5 oz Milk, Buttermilk, Fluid, Cultured, Lowfat
0.5 stick Butter
18 oz Confectioners Sugar

Recipe Directions for Texas Sheet Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl.

  3. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa. Bring to boil and then remove from heat.

  4. Add warm mixture to dry ingredients in bowl. Mix well.

  5. Add eggs, baking soda, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix well.

  6. Pour in 9x13 baking dish & bake for 35 minutes.

  7. For frosting:

  8. Melt 1/2 stick butter in small saucepan. Add 3 Tbsp cocoa and 3 Tbsp buttermilk. Heat over low heat, but do not boil.

  9. Remove from heat and add 2 1/4 cups of confectioner's sugar and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix well. Pour on cake as soon as cake is removed from oven.
