Rich chocolate cake with boiled chocolate in both cake and frosting

Recipe Ingredients for Texas Cake

2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup butter
5 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup water
4 tbsp. cocoa
4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Recipe Directions for Texas Cake

  1. Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, vanilla, eggs, and sour cream.

  2. Heat butter, water, and cocoa until boiling then remove from heat. Add to cake batter and beat well.

  3. Pour into greased 9X13 or large jelly roll pan. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

  4. While baking cake, place 3 1/2 to 4 cups of powdered sugar in bowl. In saucepan, heat butter, water, and cocoa. Bring to boil and remove immediately from heat, Mix in vanilla and pour over icing. Mix and frost cake right out of the oven!
