Cream cheese and cottage cheese nicely balance the saucy ground beef and noodles in this hearty casserole.

Recipe Ingredients for Taste of Home (Aug/Sept 2010) Hamburger Noodle Bake

2 cups uncooked no yolk noodles
3/4 lb. Lean ground beef (90% lean)
2 tbsp. Onion
16 oz. Tomato sauce
1/2 tsp. Sugar
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Garlic
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1/4 cup low fat cottage cheese
2 oz. Cream cheese
1 tbsp. Green pepper
1 tbsp. Sour cream
2 tbsp. Grated Parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Taste of Home (Aug/Sept 2010) Hamburger Noodle Bake

  1. Cook noodles

  2. Brown beef with onions. Then stir in tomato sauce, sugar, garlic, salt, and pepper

  3. In small bown, combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, green onionn, green peper, and sour cream.

  4. Drain noodles.

  5. Place half of noodles in 1 qt dish. sppoon half of beef mixture over the top. Layer with cottage cheese mixture and remaing noodles. Top with remaining beef mixture, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

  6. Cover and bake at 350 for 20 - 25 minutes.
