Delicious apple tarte and has a rich caramel apple taste and flaky crust.

Recipe Ingredients for Tarte Tatin

1/2 cup white flour
4 tbsp unsalted butter, cold
1/2 tbsp sugar
1 pinch of kosher salt
3 tbsp ice water
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3/8 cup sugar
1 pinch of kosher salt
3 gala apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 6 pieces

Recipe Directions for Tarte Tatin

  1. preheat over to 400 degrees

  2. combine first 4 ingredients in food processor. pulse until pea size butter chunks. add water until dough holds shape with pinched.

  3. press into disk shape, wrap in plastic wrap, place in fridge.

  4. next, melt butter over medium heat in 8 inch non-stick skillet. add sugar. cook 2 minutes, stirring frequently. place apples in pan with outside of apple facing down. arrange in circular pattern. cook on low 15 minutes.

  5. move pan to oven for 5 minutes. remove and let pan cool while you roll of crust.

  6. roll out crust on floured surface a little bit larger than the pan. place crust over the apples in the pan. push edges down on the perimeter of the apples.

  7. bake for 20 minutes, until golden brown.

  8. remove from oven. let rest 2 minutes.

  9. have a serving plate ready and invert the pan onto the plate aka place plate upside down onto pan, and flip in quickly. let rest 5 minutes, slice and serve!
