Tarama Balls Recipe

"Fake" meatballs with tarama (= cod roe paste) used instead of meat.

Recipe Ingredients for Tarama balls

150 g (tarama)
1 medium onion
2 tbsp dill
4 slices white bread
4 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Tarama balls

  1. Thoroughly soak and then drain the bread.

  2. Soak the tarama for 15 mins in a bowl of water. Then drain well and place in a clean bowl.

  3. Add onion (chopped), bread, 2 tbsp oil, dill and salt and knead until you have a soft, easily shapeable dough.

  4. Heat the remaining oil in a frying pan.

  5. Shape the dough into small spheres and cover n flour.

  6. Fry tarama balls in the pan until browned from all sides.

  7. Remove from pan and place on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil.

  8. Serve hot!
