Traditional non-spicy tamarind chutney

Recipe Ingredients for tamarind chutney

3 oz tamarind
2 cups water
7 dried dates
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 g jaggery
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp chilli powder

Recipe Directions for tamarind chutney

  1. boil jaggery, tamarind, dates in water for 15 minutes or until all ingredients are liquified

  2. add salt and cumin/coriander powder, and optionally chilli - cook for 5 more minutes

  3. strain and chill
