Recipe Ingredients for Tamale Pie (weight watchers)

8 oz cornbread mix
1 egg
1/3 cup skim milk
1 pound ground venison
1 medium onion
35 g dry chili seasoning mix
16 oz can diced tomatoes
16 oz Whole Kernel Corn
16 oz can black beans (not refried)

Recipe Directions for Tamale Pie (weight watchers)

  1. Mix cornmeal, egg and milk in large bowl.

  2. Spray skillet with non stick spray, and brown venison and diced onion, breaking up the venison finely. Drain corn, tomatoes, and beans and add them to the venison and onions. Add one packet of dry chili seasoning mix and stir until all ingredients are combined.

  3. Add venison and vegetable mixture to cornbread batter and mix well. Mixture should be pourable (cake batter consistency); if it is too thick, add a couple tablespoons of skim milk.

  4. Pour into slow cooker and cook on high for 1 hour, then on low for 3 hours. May top each serving with salsa and shredded cheddar.
