Recipe Ingredients for Tamale Pie

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 cup onion, diced
2 cups enchilada sauce
12 oz whole corn
6 oz olives
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
2 1/4 cups cornmeal
2 cups water
12 oz evaporated milk
6 oz chiles
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Recipe Directions for Tamale Pie

  1. brown the ground beef,

  2. add onion, enchilada sauce, corn, salt and garlic powder.

  3. make the crust mix water, evaporated milk and cornmeal cook until it gets thick add the chiles. put half of the mixture in the bottom and up the sides of a 9X 13 pan that has been sprayed with a non stick pan spray. press into a thin crust and up the sides of the pan. bake at 425 for 10 min. Add the meat mixture after the crust has cooled a few minutes. then spread the rest of the cornmeal mixture top with cheese return to the oven and bake 15 min.
