Mexican style ground beef casserole

Recipe Ingredients for Tamale Pie

1 lb ground beef
1 c onion
1 c green pepper
1 1/2 c corn
1/2 c black olives
16 oz tomato sauce
16 oz cheddar cheese
1/2 c cornmeal
1/2 c flour
1/4 c skim milk
3 tbls sugar

Recipe Directions for Tamale Pie

  1. Brown Ground beef

  2. Saute chopped onion and green pepper

  3. mix beef, onion, pepper, corn, black olives tomato sauce

  4. add 1tsp salt, 2 Tbls sugar 1/2 tsp each chili powder and red pepper

  5. simmer for 20 minutes

  6. add cheese

  7. put into casserole dish

  8. mix cornmeal, flour, milk sugar and 1 tsp salt to form cornbread like batter

  9. spread batter ontop of meat mixture

  10. bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees
