Recipe Ingredients for Taco Soup

1 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion , chopped
3/4 cups water
16 ounce diced tomatoes with juice
8 ounce tomato sauce
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp granulated garlic
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 cup 2% cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
1 avocado, sliced (optional)

Recipe Directions for Taco Soup

  1. Cook ground beef and onion in medium saucepan over medium heat until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain.

  2. Mix in water, tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings. Bring to a boil.

  3. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes.

  4. Serve topped with cheese and avocado slices if desired.
