Traditional Belgian mac & cheese with cubed ham chunks.

Recipe Ingredients for Swiss Mac & Cheese

9 cups Cooked Macaroni
454 grams Ham
1/2 cup Flour
4 tablespoons Butter
4 cups 2% Milk
4/5 lbs. Swiss Cheese

Recipe Directions for Swiss Mac & Cheese

  1. Cook elbow macaroni and drain. Mix in cubed ham chunks and place in glass casserole dish.

  2. While macaroni is cooking grate Gruyere cheese.

  3. Start white sauce base by melting butter in sauce pan. Whisk in flour over medium heat. Then add milk a bit at a time while stirring mixture until a you get a smooth gravy like consistency.

  4. Whisk in the grated cheese and mix until melted in.

  5. Pour over the noodles and ham.

  6. You can sprinkle 2 tbls. bread crumbs over the top if you like it browned off.

  7. Put into a 300 degree preheated oven for 15-20 minutes and serve.
