Sweet and Sour Tempeh Recipe

A chinese-style variation of tempeh and peppers that takes less the 30 minutes. This analysis does not include the tempeh, as the kind I use is not listed and several types can be use (soy, grain, vegetable).

Recipe Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Tempeh

2 servings (1 cup) crushed pineapple in juice
2 tsp vegetable broth powder
2 tbsp soy sauce reduced sodium
1 tsp olive oil
1 1/2 cups frozen pepper strips
1/2 cup frozen onions
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1 tbsp corn starch

Recipe Directions for Sweet and Sour Tempeh

  1. Place broth powder in 2 cups of water and bring to a boil until powder is dissolved.

  2. Add soy sauce and tempeh to broth and boil for five minutes.

  3. Reserve broth and removed from heat.

  4. Warm oil in large pan. Add tempeh, peppers, and onions.

  5. Cook tempeh mixture on medium high heat stirring often until brown.

  6. Return broth to high heat and removed 1/4 cup of broth to small bowl. Add cornstarch and sugar to smal bowl and dissolve.

  7. Add pinapple, vinegar, and starch mixture.

  8. Sever tempeh over rice with sauce on top.
