Slow cooked red cabbage with apples and caraway seeds

Recipe Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

1 head, medium (about 5" dia) Cabbage, Red
2 tsp Caraway Seed
2 medium (3") Apples
3 tsp Demerara Sugar
1 tbsp Vinegar, Cider
2 pat (1" sq, 1/3" high) Butter

Recipe Directions for Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

  1. melt butter in pan and add finely shreddedd red cabbage, cook slowly, stirring until soft

  2. Add peeled chopped apples, vinegar, sugar, caraway seeds and a cup of water

  3. Continue cooking on low heat for about 60-90 minutes

  4. Serve warm with meats, may be reheated.

  5. Can add a little cornflour or arrowroot to thicken if wanted
