Sweet and Sour chinese recipe, no breading, and homemade sweet sauce. Declious, saves calories, and no disgusting pure corn syrup red sauce. The recipe says 1 cup rice, but cooked, it's more like 3 cups. the calculator is weird about rice sometimes.

Recipe Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Pork, no breading

1/2 lbs of pork loin
1 green bell pepper
1 red bell pepper
1/4 onion
2 stalks celery
1 cup carrots
1 cup brown rice
15 oz of chunk pineapple
8 oz sliced water chestnuts
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp ginger
2 tbsp Soy sauce
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tbls cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup rice vinegar

Recipe Directions for Sweet and Sour Pork, no breading

  1. marinate pork an hour or so ahead of time by cutting it into very very thin strips and placing it in zip-lock bag with some olive oil, soy sauce, garlic and ginger, 1/4 cup or less of sweet white wine or rice vinegar.

  2. Cut the tops off the bell peppers, discard. Cut each into quarters, and then into long very thin strips, no bigger than 1/4 inch or less each.

  3. Half each baby carrot longways, then sliver each piece, trying to get 8 carrot slivers out of each baby carrot.

  4. Cut each pinapple chunk in half, if desired, reserve liquid. sliver the onion and finely cut the celery into half-moon slivers

  5. Bring a wok or regular low sided large pan over medium heat or a little higher, cook pork until done.

  6. Remove from the pan and put in the carrots. Wait 2 minutes, then add the celery or onion, wait another 2 minutes then add the rest of the veggies and cook for a few more minutes until just barely tender, but still crunchy. Add pork back to the pan.

  7. In a small bowl or cup, mix the cornstarch with the water, let sit. While the pork is cooking, bring all the sauce ingredients (except cornstarch and water) to boil in a small pan and allow to reduce while the pork is cooking. after about 4-5 minutes of boiling or simmering, cut the heat off. Add the cornstarch when you put the pork back in the pan with the veggies, stir throughly, then add the sauce to the pork and veggies an mix until sauce thickens.

  8. Let sit for a minute or so, then serve over/with white or brown rice If desired, thinly chop some green onion and sprinkle over the top when serving.

  9. Enjoy!
