Recipe Ingredients for Sweet and Sour Chicken

1 lb chicken breast, cubed
1/2 tsp. garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp. ginger, root chopped
1 green pepper, sliced
1 onion, roughly chopped
1 carrot, sliced thinly
1 tsp. sesame oil
1 tbsp finely chopped spring onion
2 tsp. soy sauce (dark)
1 tsp. rice vinegar
1 white pepper, a pinch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 dash sesame oil, to marinade chicken
8 tbsp rice vinegar
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. soy sauce (dark)
6 tbsp tomato ketchup, to make the Sweet and Sour Sauce

Recipe Directions for Sweet and Sour Chicken

  1. Place marinade ingredients in a bowl and marinate chicken for at least 20 mins.

  2. Heat vinegar in a pan and add the sugar, soy and ketchup. Stir until sugar dissolves. Spray a clean wok with spray oil and cook the chicken, garlic and ginger over a medium heat for about 10 minutes.

  3. Add the vegetables and cook 2 mins.

  4. Finally add the sauce. Cook for a further 5 minutes. Garnish, if desired, with spring onion and serve.
