Recipe Ingredients for Swedish Meatballs

1 pound beef, 90% lean
1 pound pork, ground
3 cups panko
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs, ligthly beaten
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup flour
3 cups beef broth, low sodium

Recipe Directions for Swedish Meatballs

  1. make basic white sauce with butter, flour and 1 cup milk and beef broth and whisk together over medium heat until thickened. Set aside.

  2. mix remaining ingredients only until blended or the meatballs will be tough.

  3. form into 48 (just smaller than a golf ball) or 96 quarter-sized balls and bake for about 8-10 minutes for small and 10-12 minutes for large at 475 degrees.

  4. Gently mix meatballs into sauce and warm through.

  5. Traditionally served with lingonberry jelly. Also looks nice with a final sprinkle of parsley if you have it on hand.
