Great for dessert or breakfast; can substitute for pie filling, too. Sugar is cut way down. Also, diet margarine will work with the recipe, if you use that stuff.

Recipe Ingredients for Susan's Fried Apples

315 g Gala apples, chopped
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup xylitol no-calorie sweetener, brown sugar-flavor
2 tbsp sorghum
1/4 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Susan's Fried Apples

  1. Use 3 large Gala apples. Core apples, do not peel. Slice into wedges and then cut wedges into thin slices.

  2. Melt butter in heavy skillet. Add apple slices, cinnamon, and xylitol. Cook over medium heat, stirring, about 10 minutes.

  3. Drizzle sorghum over apples. Sprinkle with salt. Stir well, and serve.
