Bread bowl (original recipe yields 6 servings, but i wanted bigger bowls so i made less)

Recipe Ingredients for Super Bread Bowl

480 grams Sunnuntai Whole Wheat Flour
1 serving Valio Lactose Free Fat Free milk
27 grams Flora Margarine
12.6 grams Dan Sukker Sugar
1.5 tsp Salt, Table
1 large Egg, White
28 grams Yeast
0.5 cup (8 fl oz) Water

Recipe Directions for Super Bread Bowl

  1. 1/2 cup water (70 to 80 degrees F)

  2. 1 cup warm milk (70 to 80 degrees F)

  3. 2 tablespoons butter, softened

  4. 2 tablespoons sugar

  5. 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  6. 4 cups all-purpose flour

  7. 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast

  8. 1 egg white, beaten

  9. Original recipe also calls for bread machine. But I did it this way:

  10. Put yeast, sugar and water in a bowl and let sit for 10 mins.

  11. Meanwhile mix milk, butter, salt. Add flour (Note, I used wheat flour instead of all purpose, so i sifted the flour and added 5 tbsp of more water per cup of wheat flour) and mix well.

  12. When yeast mixture has sat long enough, add it to flour mixture.

  13. Place on a floured surface and knead 5 mins. Place back in bowl and let rise until doubled, at least one hour.

  14. Punch down dough and divide into four sections. make into balls, and set on a baking tray. cover and let rise 30 more mins.

  15. Preheat oven to 75 C (175 F). Shut off and place balls in oven to rise a little faster.

  16. Preheat oven to 175 C (375 F) and bake 20-25 mins.

  17. Pull out, let cool. Cut tops off and hallow out leaving 1/4'' edge on all sides.

  18. Pour soup or chili in and enjoy.
