Recipe Ingredients for Sugar and Yeast Free Wheat bread

4 cups whole wheat flour
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cup soy milk or water (I use soy milk)
1/4 cup oil
1 cup unsweetened apple sauce (I throw an apple in the food processor)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Recipe Directions for Sugar and Yeast Free Wheat bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit.

  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine milk (or water) and oil. Slowly mix wet mixture into dry mixture.

  4. Add applesauce, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mixture should be moist, but not very sticky. If it is sticky, add more flour. If it is dry, add a bit more milk or water.

  5. With well oiled hands, drop mixture into an oiled loaf pan. Use some extra oil to smooth out the top of the bread. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top, for looks and I like to score an "X" into the top so when the dough rises it still looks good.

  6. Put into the oven for 40 minutes, Checking on it occasionally after 25.
