Quick and delicious chocolate oaty flapjacks with a touch of ginger. Only 104 calories per 1/16th slice (using unsweetened cocoa powder)

Recipe Ingredients for Sue's Flapjacks with Chocolate, Oats and Ginger yummy

110 g brown sugar
110 g flora margarine
15 g golden syrup
150 g oats
15 g cocoa powder
1 tsp ground ginger

Recipe Directions for Sue's Flapjacks with Chocolate, Oats and Ginger yummy

  1. Preheat oven to 300F, 150C or gas mark 2.

  2. Grease a 7 or 8" (18 or 20cm) square baking tin at least 1 and a quarter inches (4cm) deep.

  3. Put sugar, fat and syrup in a small saucepan and gently heat and stir until margarine and sugar have melted. Take off the heat.

  4. Stir in the oats and ground ginger (I prefer whole oats) and pour into the greased tin. Press it out evenly with large spoon.

  5. Bake in centre of oven for 40-45 mins.

  6. Allow mixture to cool for 10 minutes then while flapjacks are still soft, cut into 16 squares, leaving them in place in the tin.

  7. Leave until cold. Remove squares. Store in a tin.
