Recipe Ingredients for Sue's Cornish Pasties yummy

100 g wholemeal self raising flour
50 g flora buttery margarine
1 small onion
50 g potato
90 g rutabaga
1 rasher smoked back bacon
3/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp sea salt

Recipe Directions for Sue's Cornish Pasties yummy

  1. Preheat oven to 180C.

  2. Rub in flour and margarine straight from the fridge.

  3. Add 1-2 tsp iced water until a dough forms. Divide into 2 equal pieces and put in the fridge while preparing the filling.

  4. Dry fry the bacon rasher, remove and allow to cool for a few minutes, then chop bacon into tiny cubes and put back in the pan.

  5. Dice all vegetables into small cubes and parboil (or steam for a few minutes until partly cooked). Drain, and add to the bacon pan.

  6. Mix vegetables and bacon pieces together in the bacon oil, then season with salt and pepper.

  7. Divide vegetable mix into two.

  8. Get pastry dough from fridge. Dust counter surface, rolling pin and pastry with flour.

  9. Roll the first lump of pastry into a round.

  10. Place half the vegetables in the middle of one half of the rolled pastry. Bring the other half of pastry over and press the rounded edges together to seal the filling inside.

  11. Repeat with the rest of the filling and the second lump of pastry.

  12. Press a fork into each pasty to make air holes, and brush with milk.

  13. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
